It’s my job…and it is one that sometimes is tough as so many women have a hard time making the time to commitment to taking a full day (or overnighter, or weekend, or longer) away from their busy lives, schedules, career and work responsibilities and families. I understand this fully. I’m a woman who caregives an elderly parent and young grandchildren but I also know the value of retreating.
In December, 10 beautiful women stole a day for themselves as the busy holiday season swirled around them. They did all the things that women do on retreat with me: walking, talking, coaching circles, art and dancing. Most wrote me notes about how important this day was for their Inner Selves.
Some of the Retreatants sent me photos of the completed vision boards they had started on retreat. I find that women often can’t make the time to start a vision board or soul collage at home but when the space of time is in front of them on retreat they can focus and begin. Maybe this is metaphorical for how retreating helps one begin to make changes. The act of being on retreat opens the door to awareness and then change.
