I spent today with the inspiring Beth McCarthy at a Yoga in Nature Retreat.
She guided me through a winter’s day of poses that were adorned with poetry readings, affirmations, and guidance. Much of what she shared is what I already know, but moving into a pose that was completely supported by big sturdy bolsters and cozy fleece blankets somehow made it all sink in.
“It’s winter. Don’t make plans- just winter dream. Let a review of your life pass through your mind while you are supported in the pose and let things work out for you,” sang Beth’s honey voice.
I head home to bed now to pull up my flannel duvet and let this day of breathing, listening, affirming, sink into my cells as I rest deep. Winter days (and nights) are meant for dreaming.
Our dream life and inner life grow
more insistent in the winter darkness.
